Rules and Regulations for Rising Illustrators Prize
Entrants must comply with all of the set rules and regulations. The submission deadline for 2014 is Midnight GMT Friday, August 22, 2014. ALL entries will be acknowledged with an email to the address from which the entry was sent. The rules and regulations below are specific for the Golden Baobab Prize for Rising Illustrators.
What to Submit to the Golden Baobab Prize for Rising Illustrators:
- 1 illustration as per the following story excerpt:
After many kilometres of travelling the whole migration came to a stop in front of a mighty river. It was called the Mara River. After struggling to keep up with the giant herd’s running for so long, the Little Hippo smiled. Here was something he knew he could do better than anyone of them: Swim.
- 1 illustration that you created in the past.
Rules and Regulations
- Entrants must be under the age of 18 as of August 22, 2014, and citizens of an African country (a copy of a passport or comparable document will be required of winners). There is no restriction on race or geographical location.
- The illustrations should be intended for children between the ages of 6 and 11 and they must be imaginative and appealing to the target audience.
- Illustrations must be in colour.
- Illustrations can be created in any medium of the illustrator's choice (for example, you can create your illustration by hand and scan it).
- Entrants must submit only the materials requested by the prizes according to what is stated on the website. Additional submissions will not be considered.
- All entries except portfolio materials must be original unpublished illustrations that have not won in any previous awards.
- All entries must be the unaided work of the entrant. You are not permitted to submit another person's illustrations as your own.
- Illustrations should be in .jpeg and should not exceed 5MB each.
- The copyright of each entry will remain vested in the entrant unless otherwise agreed in writing between the entrant and Golden Baobab.
- Submissions must be made under an illustrator’s legal name, as it is written on his or her passport or other identification. Additionally, he or she may indicate a desire for the illustration to be represented under a pseudonym.
- The Golden Baobab Prizes administration reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not conform to set rules. No correspondence will be pursued in this regard.
- Winners will be announced in November 2014.
