Workshops
Golden Baobab Workshops is a resource initiative that organizes workshops and training programs for Golden Baobab writers and illustrators of children’s books. Our goal is to help improve professional skills and strengthen inter-professional cooperation among writers, illustrators, and other groups concerned with the production and distribution of children’s books.
Golden Baobab hosted two illustrator workshops in 2012. The first took place in June 2012 and was a nine-day event to cultivate artistic talent and train the top illustrators in Ghana. This event culminated in a gallery showing of the resulting illustrations at the W. E. B. Du Bois Center in Accra. The second was a one-day workshop with two-time Caldecott-medal-winning author and illustrator Paul O. Zelinsky, known for such children’s classics as Rumpelstiltskin, Rapunzel, and The Wheels on the Bus.
Below are some photos that were taken at both workshops.
